Cleveland School District board reviews stadium renovation plans

The board discussed updated cost estimates for stadium improvements at its September meeting, noting bond funds will not be available until March.

At the Cleveland School District Board of Trustees' regular meeting Sept. 18, officials reviewed plans for stadium improvements, including locker rooms, coaches' offices, a team meeting room and track work, along with bleacher options. The district's director of operations, identified in meeting records as Mr. Johnson, told the board, "we are for the fact that it'll be March before the bond money is available."

Board members discussed meeting with the project's architect in October and scheduled a work session for Oct. 15 to finalize design details, including bleachers and lighting, before bond proceeds can be committed.

The project is financed through bonds, a form of public capital spending typically tracked by bond counsel and financial advisers. The board has not yet settled on a design or locked in financing, leaving the project's final scope and cost undecided.
