Road-paving contract needs review - says local supervisor

By The Wire  ·   ·

STARKVILLE, Miss. — An Oktibbeha County supervisor told the Board of Supervisors that the county's own attorney had raised legal concerns over a road-paving pilot project approved in April 2026, saying the arrangement may not have met state procurement and competitive-bidding requirements.

"He was concerned about some of the statutes as it relates to procurement not being met as it relates to the bidding process," the supervisor told the board, putting the project's total cost at roughly $189,000.

The board directed staff to prepare a formal request for proposals to put the project on firmer legal footing.
