Greenwood Leflore schools announce signed contract for new high school

The Greenwood Leflore Consolidated School District Board of Trustees was told construction on a new high school can proceed after the building contract was signed.

The announcement came during the superintendent's monthly report at the board's regular meeting Oct. 13, 2026. The report stated, "A historic milestone has been reached. The contract for construction of our new high school has officially been signed, bringing us one step closer to a brighter future for our students and community together." The report was delivered under Superintendent Kenneth Pulley's recommendation, though it was narrated at the meeting by a staff member identified elsewhere as Ms. Hodo; it is not confirmed whether the quoted language reflects Dr. Pulley's own words or prepared remarks read on his behalf. The board separately received an update from the project's architects on the first owner-architect-contractor meeting held at the site.

The contract amount, the contractor and the funding source were not disclosed at the meeting. A signed construction contract represents a major commitment of public money and a significant infrastructure project for the district, and such capital spending is closely tracked in Mississippi. Those figures and names have not yet been obtained from the district.
