Contract addendums add to cost of clear up - MDOT
By The Wire · ·
A Mississippi Transportation Commission member on Aug. 26 questioned addendums to hurricane debris-removal contracts that he said nearly tripled in cost. "Having real issues with them addendums that are three times the price of the original contract," Commissioner John Caldwell told the commission, adding the supplements went from roughly $1.9 million to $5.9 million.
MDOT staff said the added time and cost stemmed from more debris needing removal than originally estimated, and that the costs are eligible for federal reimbursement. Caldwell later cast the sole dissenting vote against the full commission agenda.
