Teacher classroom-supply funds set to go live July 15, education department tells State Auditor
The Mississippi Department of Education told the State Auditor’s office it would make Education Enhancement Fund classroom-supply money available to teachers on July 15, 2026, the auditor’s office said.
State Auditor Shad White has pushed for teachers to have their EEF cards active before professional development days. A prior report from the auditor’s office found that 75% of Mississippi teachers did not have access to their classroom supply funds at the start of the school year, forcing many to pay out of pocket or begin the year with empty classrooms.
MDE said a July 15 activation “allows MDE to load and activate accounts promptly so that money is available well before the great majority of teachers return to their classrooms.”
The auditor’s office noted that the timing of the payments is controlled by the Department of Education and local school districts, and said it would continue working to ensure teachers do not have to spend their own money to set up their classrooms.
