Taxpayer Money Used to End Bus Walkout

JACKSON — Mayor John Horhn told the Jackson City Council that the city spent $105,000 on "strike support" for union bus operators to help end a lengthy JATRAN transit strike.
"Had the city council not agreed with this administration to make that offer, we probably would be still striking," Horhn said. The council separately discussed ongoing service problems with the bus system, including reduced route frequency, and Chief Operating Officer Peter Taylor said the city should reconsider whether JATRAN's current bus-based model fits the city's needs.
