Statewide outage keeps Mississippi driver’s license renewal system offline
The Mississippi Driver Service Bureau’s system for processing and updating expired driver’s licenses has been experiencing a statewide outage since Monday, July 13, and remained offline as of Wednesday, according to a Bureau advisory relayed in a public post by the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
As a result, some motorists may be unable to renew or update an expired driver’s license until the system is restored.
“Deputies should use discretion during traffic stops involving expired driver’s licenses and recognize that the expiration may be the result of the current statewide system outage rather than the driver’s failure to
renew,” the Adams County Sheriff’s Office said. The office added that, per the Bureau, sex offender registration services and reinstatement remain operational and are not affected.
The Department of Public Safety will notify the public once the system has been restored and normal driver’s license renewal services resume. DPS has not said what caused the failure or when service will return.
