Republican Mayor of Biloxi demands higher property taxes
By The Wire · ·
BILOXI — The Mayor of Biloxi wants a 3-mill increase to Biloxi's property tax rate, the first such increase in more than 25 years.
Mayor Andrew "FoFo" Gilich released a videos saying "We're asking for 3 mils," noting the increase would cost the owner of a $200,000 home about $5 per month.
The city said rising costs since the pandemic, combined with limited casino revenue retained locally, have widened its budget gap. Elected as a Republican, the Mayor is urging others to back his demands for higher taxes.
