Raise our millage appropriation, asks Community College boss

GREENWOOD — Dr. Steven Jones, president of Mississippi Delta Community College, asked the Leflore County Board of Supervisors on July 28 to raise the county's millage appropriation to the college by about $200,000. "This year I'm coming asking you for a ... .75 increase which is about $200,000 increase in our maintenance and other operations," Jones told the board.
Jones said the increase was tied to renovation costs at the college's recently purchased Maloof building in the county. The board took the request under advisement, saying it would be considered during budget deliberations.
