Pascagoula City Sets Property Tax Rates Flat
Pascagoula Council Holds Millage Rate Flat, Adopts $29.4 Million General Fund Budget
The Pascagoula City Council held a public hearing September 2 on its fiscal year 2026-2027 budget, keeping the city's millage rate unchanged while advancing a nearly $29.4 million general fund spending plan.
At the hearing, a city staff presenter, Mr. Larson, told the council, "Our millage rate is to remain the same at 54.5 mills. The budget does incorporate a request for an equipment capital improvement loan." The general fund budget was presented as balanced at $29,445,525, according to the meeting record, and included a proposed 2% cost-of-living increase, step raises for non-capped employees, and three new full-time positions. The council subsequently adopted a resolution setting the tax levy for fiscal year 2027.
The budget figures, along with the speaker's identity and title, have not yet been confirmed against the filed city budget document.
A flat millage rate paired with a general fund that grew year over year, along with the new equipment loan request, represents a borrowing and spending decision that will likely be tracked as it moves toward a parameters resolution.
