Jackson Awards Contractors for More Than $150 Million in Infrastructure Work

Mayor John Horhn told residents the city has selected contractors for over $150 million in street, drainage and sewer programs.

Horhn made the announcement during his 2026 State of the City Address, delivered Oct. 14. "We have selected contractors for over $150 million in street drainage and sewer programs," Horhn said, describing the scope of infrastructure work now moving forward under his administration.

The mayor did not detail which firms had been chosen, how the contracts were procured, or where the funding originates, according to the address.

The scale of the announcement — more than $150 million in contractor selections — represents significant public infrastructure spending for the city. Such figures typically draw scrutiny from bond counsel, contractors and taxpayers who want to know which companies were awarded work, whether contracts went through competitive bidding or negotiation, and whether the money comes from bonds, federal grants or the general fund. None of those specifics were addressed in Horhn's remarks, leaving the contractor list, award amounts, procurement method and funding source as open questions following the address.
