Clinton school district holds tax levy flat for 12th straight year despite 125% jump in insurance costs

CLINTON — Clinton Public School District officials told the city's Mayor and Board of Aldermen this week that the district will not seek a tax increase for the 12th consecutive year, even as insurance costs have climbed sharply.
"We will not be requesting any kind of tax increase," district finance officer Libby Kelly told the board. "This will be the 12th year for no request for increase in our tax levy." Kelly also told the board the district now insures $211 million in property and has seen premiums rise more than 125% over five years. The board separately adopted the district's ad valorem tax levy resolution for fiscal year 2027.
