Cleveland officials discuss water and sewer rate increase for FY2027
CLEVELAND - At an Aug. 12 budget work session, city official, Michelle Arbuckle, told the board a change to the rates was already likely.
"So for 27 I'm already I was already going to request that we round the rates up to the nearest nickel because we're having trouble getting pennies," she said. "Um, and if we're going to have to make a change and publish a rate change anyway, then I do have in here a 3% change, but that's a 3% increase. It's easy to change that to a 5% or whatever the board would like me to put in there."
Board members noted the city's consulting engineer has separately recommended a steeper increase than the 3% currently budgeted. No rate was adopted at the session.
Any change to water and sewer rates affects residents' bills directly, and officials indicated they would revisit the figure before a final decision is made.
